Chicago West Community Music Center

School Description

Responding to the need for an arts organization in the community "for the people and by the people", Chicago West Community Music Center (CWCMC), a 501 c 3 Not-For-Profit organization, was founded in 1999 by musician, educator and former longtime Westside resident Howard Sandifer. Now, through a new partnership with Chicago Park District, CWCMC occupies a permanent space at the Garfield Park Fieldhouse, enabling us to expand our program offerings to include on-site classes and performances for community residents.

CWCMC is currently offering classes and programs in music education for more than 1,200 students of all ages and skill levels. Programs focus on: the development of musical skill, the teaching of music fundamentals, including, but not limited to, theory, ear training, music and its role in history and language arts.
